Things to do in My Tho

My Tho is the Mekong Delta town closest to Ho Chi Minh City, on the northernmost branch of the river, and it is the usual first stop for anyone doing a delta day trip rather than heading further south to Can Tho. One correction worth making before booking anything: the Cai Rang floating market is not here.

It trades at Can Tho, further south, and mixing the two up is a common and avoidable disappointment. What My Tho does offer is river branches, orchard islands and Ben Tre's coconut country just across the water.
