Best Time to Visit Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City and the south have two seasons, not four: a dry season running roughly from December to April, hottest in March and April, and a wet season running roughly from May to November whose rain usually falls as a short, heavy downpour in the late afternoon rather than all day. There is no cool winter here, and typhoons, common further north, are rare this far south.
December to February: dry, sunny and comparatively less humid, the most comfortable stretch for walking around District 1, Cu Chi and the Mekong Delta.
March to April, and October to November: dry-season heat or the tail end of the rains, both still workable for sightseeing with an early start to the day.
May to September: the heart of the wet season, with the heaviest and most frequent late-afternoon downpours on top of hot, humid days.
