Things to do in Can Tho

Can Tho is the largest city in the Mekong Delta and the usual base for the Cai Rang floating market, which trades at dawn on the river here, not at My Tho or Cai Be as it is often assumed.

It sits roughly 170 km from Ho Chi Minh City, reached in about three to three and a half hours on the expressway, which puts it beyond a comfortable single day for most travellers and makes an overnight stay the more workable option.

From Can Tho, onward routes fan out to Cai Rang itself, Sa Dec and its flower village, Chau Doc near the Cambodian border, Soc Trang with its Khmer pagodas, Rach Gia and Ca Mau at the southern tip of the country, without needing to be covered in detail on this page.
